Alan Wake Review

Alan Wake

Story

This was one of those game that I wasn't sure about until I got through the first episode. You play the game as a male writer that has had writers block for the last two years. He goes to a small in the middle of no where town called Bright Fall to get away from everything. Once in the town Alan finds out that everyone is making a big deal out of him being there. This was what he didn't want to happen. Him and his wife go to a cabin on a island called Cauldron Lake. Once they are there they find out that this was not the right cabin for them to be in and his wife Alice was kidnapped and taken by... Well the "Taken".

Alan then wakes up in a crashed car and finds out that he has lost a week of time since they gotten to Bright Fall. He start heading for the gas station but sees a paper with the title of the next book he was going to write. He starts walking through the forest and this is where he find out that he is in troubles. The "Taken" are people and characters from the book he doesn't remember writing. They are all out for revenge for making them what they are. The only thing that can help Alan is light.

Review

You play the same throughout the whole game going from one area to the next while fighting off the Taken. You collect ammo, batteries, flashlights, flash bangs, flares and guns to help you. You also need to be on the look out for coffee jugs and manuscript pages manuscript pages are the pages from the book you do not remember write. It will give you clues about what to do and what is going to happen next.

Rating
7.5

I am going to rate this game at a 7.5. The story itself is very good and it does get a bit scary at times. The only thing is that it becomes very repetitive after paying through the first few episodes. The game does give you a good amount of refills on you ammo and batteries so you don't go around looking for something to kill the Taken with. If you haven't played the game yet, give it a try and feel free to leave comments
